The
fight to save our village has only just begun. The deadline for submitting
official objections may have passed, but that doesn't mean the war is over.It simply means that the opening skirmish has reached its end, resulting in the battle lines being drawn and the metaphoric spear being thrust into the ground.
Our fight is being fought on several different fronts at the same time, as there are lots of different issues that affect Pentney as a result of the MIN93 quarry proposal. For more information on each of these topics, visit the following pages.
We won't know if Pentney has been selected as one of the shortlisted sites until January 30th 2009, but that doesn't mean we should just sit back and complacently rest on our laurels.
We are NOT resigned to our fates.
We still have the power to influence the outcome in our favour, but it will require the help, support and involvement of as many people as possible. Remember, many voices shout louder than a single voice. And many voices shouting the same simple message can be heard clearer than many voice shouting different messages.
That simple message is "NO - We don't want this quarry!"
In order to achieve this, we must become a constant thorn in the sides of the Norfolk County Council planning department.
We must remind them constantly that we have not gone away, and we're still itching for a fight if they want to give us one. We have to ensure that every time they pick up the MIN-93 proposal documents, they're accompanied by a heavy file full of objection letters.
Remember, we may not be able to submit official objections now, but all letters must still be recorded and filed.
Nomatter where you reside, I urge you to please print out the following letter, sign it and post it off to the listed address. Ask your friends and family to do the same. Ask your workmates, schoolmates, vicar, neighbours, bank manager, bus driver and anyone else you can think of. The more letters that get sent, the better chance we stand of saving this beautiful historic village.

If you would rather compose a letter in your own words, that's even better, but the important thing is to flood them with correspondence.
In addition, signing our online E-petition, and adding your voice to the Public Forum on this site will draw all the voices of the village together in one place for all the world to see. It will show the world that we are united, and we aren't going to take this lying down.
It has already made our collective voice loud enough to be heard by the local press. If we keep it up, we could even catch the ear of the national press.
All comments are welcome. Whether they're angry, humorous or sarcastic. The world wants to hear your opinion. Even if you support the proposed quarry, please tell the world why.
