SAVE PENTNEY ACTION GROUP
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AT FALGATE FARM ON 16th JUNE 2008 at 7pm
Present: Cliff Smalley, Marian Storey, Norman Sharp, Frances Bligh, Shirley MacKinnon,
Sam Thorn and Sam Knox (publicity officer).
Apologies: Kevin Stonebanks.
Due to the volume of comments received NCC has deferred the decision date until
January 2009.
Village Forum
Village hall is booked for 12th July, 1 – 4pm. Cliff has produced two banners
to be displayed, one inside and one outside the hall. Sam K. is producing posters,
which will be ready by the weekend and press releases have gone out. Cliff will
send out invitations as soon as possible and said he will produce name badges
for committee members. Shirley volunteered to do refreshments. It was agreed to
have tea, coffee, fruit juice, cakes and biscuits. Cliff will get these from the
cash and carry.
Sam asked that we each email a paragraph to him to be included in a leaflet to
be given out at the forum. He will take two laptop computers, one to run his website,
the second to sign his online petition. It was agreed to meet on Thursday evening
prior to the forum.
Church
Norfolk Churches Preservation Trust have said they will do a full structural survey
of the church to be kept on record and used for comparison if damage occurs. This
will be carried out during the summer and Stuart Nairn will get a copy of the
results.
Survey Information
Cliff said that Mr. Cooper, our local wildlife expert, has said that he wants
to help and will get in touch when he is back in Pentney. Sam has asked Savills
and NCC to conduct a bat survey on the site. Marian and Cliff will get in touch
with the Footpaths Officer or Ramblers Association regarding the obstructed right
of way on the site. Sam said he had made inquiries re. bird strike issue with
the RAF and it is not a particular concern to them because of the existing lakes
and they are unlikely to object. Norman said geological reports suggest that the
site may not cause major water problems but subsidence could be a problem. Cliff
has met with two property valuers who both told him Min93 must be taken into consideration
when valuating property. It is already having an affect of reducing values by
probably 10% but considerably more if the application is successful.
Sam has sent a letter to NCC asking what contingency plans they have for compensation.
It was suggested the Mothers & Toddlers Club be asked for their comments.
A.O. B.
Shirley asked for a list of the mistakes made in the blue book relating to Min..93.
Sam said Stephen Fry had made two further comments which are on the website.
Also he has a DVD of the film made in Pentney by Hannah Griffiths, which he will
show at the Forum then give to Cliff for the library.
Cliff will contact Brian Webster to ask for funding from the Parish Council for
the Forum.
The Playing Field Committee are reluctant to display our banner at their Fun Day,
but there is nothing to stop Cliff displaying it on his building overlooking the
playing field and it was suggested this be put up two weeks before the fun day.
Meeting closed at 9.50pm.
Date of Next Meeting. Monday 30th June, 7pm at Falgate Farm
Thursday 10th July, 7pm at Falgate Farm to finalise arrangements for the Village
Forum.
